Sydney’s problematic light rail now set to make tracks as far as Central
Sydney’s light rail trams tested the tracks from Surry Hills to Central Station for the first time on Tuesday night.
This was a big step for the multi-billion dollar project which has been dogged by construction complications and delays.
The light rail line originally planned to open by March this year, is now set to open in stages, with the trams on track to take passengers from Randwick to Circular Quay by December.
Tahlia Kraefft spoke with Matthew Hounsell, a senior research consultant at the Institute of Sustainable futures at the University of Technology Sydney, on how it will improve Sydney city’s transport routes.
