Dhungala National Indigenous Fire Workshop
Cultural burning is a land management practice that is tens of thousands of years old. This week Indigenous fire practitioners and people from across Australia will gather along the Murray river to celebrate that cultural fire knowledge and practice.
It’s part of an annual National Indigenous Fire workshop run by the Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation. The 4-day workshop starts on the 4th of June and will be held this year at Barmah National Park on the New South Wales-Victorian border. Our producer Marlene Even spoke with the director of the Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation, Oliver Costello.
