Why do we use like, like all the time?

It seems like everybody is like, always using like all the time. The term ‘like’ seems to be a common word intertwined within the language of today. Often associated with our youth, it is as if the word has become apart of modern slang. But what if, we have misunderstood the use of the word and where it has come from?
