Buying a Lottery Ticket is still Gambling

The Australian Lottery offers millions up for grabs and thousands of Australians line up in hopes of having a big win. The Oz Lotto is one of Australia’s popular and holds the record for Australia’s largest jackpot, $112 Million back in 2012. Yet people who buy a ticket do not think of themselves as gambling, but rather not missing out on their chance to win. How is it that The Australian lottery system has successfully dodged the stigma of gambling in the public eye? The Daily was joined by Brittany Keen from Sydney University to discuss the how Australian Lottery is not seen as gambling in the public eye.
