Physical Education for Healthier Kids

PE was one of those subjects in school where you either loved it or hated it, but really it’s great for your children and great for you as you get older. UNESCO states that physical activity is excellent to improve mentality, social health, physical health and prevents diseases. Starting Physical education and a healthier, more fit lifestyle at a younger age is better for a healthier life in the future. Activities that have been encouraged for younger kids include; Swimming, Soccer, Gymnastics, Basketball etc. Of the top 10 activities ranked for each age group, swimming is the only one in common between all groups and is highly encouraged for everyone. It is suggested that better programs for health and physical education in schools, would promote this healthy lifestyle better. We had Dr Vaughan Cruickshank, the Program Director of Health and Physical Education at The University of Tasmania to tell us more.
