How the AFL Has Handled Racism And Sexism
Within the last few years, the AFL has been publicly marked by events such as the racist treatment of Adam Goodes and the sexist online abuse of AFLW players. If you watched the AFL Grand Final on Saturday, you may have caught the latest ad by the AFL to promote equality and diversity. Is this ad reflective of the culture of AFL today, or does the game have a long way to go till it reaches equality?
The Daily was joined by Dr Matthew Kloogman, Research Fellow from the Institute for Health & Sport at Victoria University, to talk about the place race and gender hold, and the discourse surrounding it, in the current AFL culture of Australia.
