During Budget Estimate meetings earlier this week the NSW Police Commissioner disclosed that police are required to meet quotas and KPI targets for personal and strip searches.

This revelation follows the release of the Rethinking Strip Searches Report, commissioned by the Redfern Legal Centre, which found strip searches in NSW had dramatically increased and that police are often conducting unlawful searches.

Kate Atkinson spoke to Samantha Lee from Redfern Legal Centre and Dr Michael Grewcock, a UNSW academic and co-author of the Rethinking Strip Searches Report.
