A Massive Black Hole Gets Bigger
Something dark lurks among the stars. In the depths of the Milky Way Galaxy lies a massive creature of impossible darkness and infinite hunger. Recently, it was discovered that it is even bigger than scientists could have ever imagined.
This creature is a black hole, and its name is Cygnus X-1.
Prof. James Miller-Jones – Science Director at the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy – and his team recently discovered that the largest black hole in our galaxy was indeed larger than previous observations suggested.
Prof. Miller-Jones joined us to tell us more about this remarkable discovery.
