A Play About Lady Day
Set in 1959, in a rundown bar in South Philadelphia, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill is a dramatic retelling of one of Billie Holiday’s last live performances.
Now playing at Belvoir theatre till the 15th October, this work is a bit risqué, humorous, political, ecstatic and tragic, in which Lady Day comes to the fore as she looks back on a life, on an era.
Musical Director (and performer) of Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill, Kym Purling joined 2SER Breakfast.
