A Vegetarian Approach to the Drought Crisis

The weekend saw more graphic coverage of the drought and its effect on farms. Imagery of starving livestock being hand-fed bales of hay was inter-cut with images of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announcing new welfare payments to distressed farmers and their families. The question will be asked again, is it viable to continue keeping livestock in the face of frequent and sustained droughts?

Mark Berriman of the Australian Vegetarian Society joined the Daily to discuss the new technologies and cultural changes driving debate on how best to change the livestock and farming industries.
