ACL injuries might be caused by genetics

A team of researchers from around the world including the University of Western Australia have found a genetic factor related to ACL injuries.

As three AFLW players suffered knee injuries last weekend, it is fair to say that ACL injuries are common the sport. In a report from last year recording AFLW injuries, ACL injuries showed to be the most common incident.

We were joined by Professor Minghao Zheng from the University of Western Australia’s Medical School to discuss how genetic factors may be contributing to tendon and ligament injuries.
