ACT considers legal recognition of animals’ feelings in an Australian first
The ACT may just make history, by being the first state in Australia to legally recognize the feelings of animals. That is the ACT will take into account animals’ feelings, in addition to physical well being when making animal protection laws.
Many of us have wondered what goes through our dogs’ minds when we say the magic words, “Do you want to go for a walk?” or what our cats are feeling when they let out a meow or a cry.
To learn more about animals’ feelings and what the ACT is proposing we were joined by Dr. Bronwynn Orr, who is a shelter veterinarian with the RSPCA in the ACT and a companion animal welfare scientist.
