Adequate Infrastructure Could Have Eased Auckland Flooding

Auckland experienced four months of rain in just one day last Friday, embattling the city with storm water causing untold amounts of damage.

The unprecedented floods have called into question the cities capacity for withstanding floods, with excessive amounts of paving and not enough soil to retain flood waters, experts are calling for Auckland, and other flood prone cities, to transfer to a ‘Sponge City’ model.
