AES and Awabakal Partnership Tackling Health and Employment
It may come as a shock that, in 2016, there is still a huge divide between Indigenous and non-indigenous Australians. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander life expectancy is ten years lower, diabetes rate is three times higher, and unemployment rates are over three times as high. However, a new partnership between the Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) and Awabakal Ltd is aiming to tackle the health and employment issues, at least in the Hunter and central coast region. AES Business Development Operations Manager, Leroy Wilkinson, joined Nic on the phone to discuss the initiative.
