After the Oasis

Ten years ago the documentary on “The Oasis” about the Salvation Army’s efforts to deal with youth homelessness in inner-city Sydney attempted to launch a debate about the crisis afflicting many younger Australians struggling to find accommodation or other social support to enable them to function in the community. This has led to a follow-up documentary that follows Paul Moulds and his wife Robyn as they attempt to discover the fate of the many street children they had tirelessly supported just a decade ago.
With next week being homelessness week, Stephen Hill talked to the documentary’s director Sasha Ettinger Epstein and Owen, Chris and Darren about their experiences growing up without a stable roof under their heads.
