Covid-19 has highlighted Australia’s existing insufficient commitment to the aged care sector, and has been brought to the forefront of public attention in the recent Royal Commission. With evidence of neglect, abuse, staff cuts and rationing of care, it’s no surprise that Commissioner Lynelle Briggs has dubbed the current system “ at best a national embarrassment and at worst a national disgrace.” We were joined by Professor and Head, Health Law and Ageing Research Unit at Monash University, Joseph Ibrahim to discuss what needs to be done to fix this failing system.
