Aged Care Under the Microscope
With around 1.3 million older Australians accessing care and services across the age care system every year and many scandals coming out of the woodwork concerning elder abuse, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has called for a Royal Commission into the aged care sector.
Morrison said the government will spend the next few weeks settling the scope of the inquiry before starting the investigation. Many providers have hailed the move as “essential”. We were joined to dig a little deeper into the issue by Professor Michael Woods from the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation at UTS.
