Air Pollution Pre and Post Lockdown

Some urban centres around the world have recorded dramatically lower levels of air pollution since containment measures were introduced to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Photographs showing clear blue skies above Chinese and Indian cities and iconic landmarks usually shrouded in smog and haze suggest a silver lining to this public health crisis. 2SER’s The Daily spoke with Dr Javier Leon – Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography at the University of the Sunshine Coast – about emerging research using satellite imagery to monitor how pollution is changing in major Australian cities.
