Alcohol Advertising on TV: What are the Effects?

Alcohol-based advertisements are stringently regulated on TV, but the one time they are allowed to be shown openly and frequently is during sports events. Experts have stated that giving breweries naming rights for sports events (such as the VB One Day International event) and allowing advertising throughout sports events normalises alcohol use and encourages younger viewers to drink beer. Such research is now recommending bans on all alcohol related advertising during sports events.
