Alexander Flood on ‘The Space Between’ and the World of Rhythm
Musician Alexander Flood joins Tuesday Drive’s Felix Shannon to talk about his 2022 sophomore record ‘The Space Between‘, the music that inspired it, the power of reaching into broader musical fields, and what that space even is. The record features all-star musicians like 6x Grammy nominee Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Vivian Sessoms, Nelson Dialect, and Zayn Mohammed amongst others. Drawing on such a vast range of influences, from dance, trance, international percussion, urban textures, improvisation and more, it’s miraculous and enveloping how cohesive and strong the voice of this album is. After 17 years performing and studying behind the kit and the broader world of percussion, Alexander Flood has made an unmistakable mark with this album and we can’t wait to see where he goes from here.
