Algae-farming Fish are Domesticating Shrimp Swarms to Help Run Their Farms
Humans have been domesticating animals for centuries. Many core industries such as agriculture wouldn’t exist without it. And it was long believed we were one of the only animals to do it…Until recently. A team of scientists have discovered a type of algae-farming fish called the longfin damselfish. It domesticates swarms of tiny shrimp to help cultivate their farms. The leader of the study is Dr. Rohan Brooker (Research Fellow at Deakin University) joined us to tell us more about this discovery.
