Alone It Stands at Ensemble Theatre
Jumping straight from modern Irish folklore to the stage, Ensemble Theatre presents a heart-warming comedy about a tale of triumph over impossible odds on the field. Alone It Stands is a production based on the famous 1978 rugby union match between the all-amateur Irish Munster and the mighty New Zealand All Blacks at Thomond Park.
By Irish playwright John Breen, Alone It Stands is directed by Janine Watson, with a cast of 6 playing 62 roles – the players (on both sides), their wives, rabid fans, the coach and a loyal dog – it’s filled with as much heart and excitement as a nail-biting rugby match. Catch it on stage now, up until 2nd March, Alex King, actor in Alone It Stands joined Danny on the breakfast show.
