The Archibald, Wynne and Sulman are the nation’s most famous portrait, landscape and subject painting prizes and are entered in by thousands of people each year. But what happens to the work that doesn’t make the cut? Well, for the past 23 years, Tap Gallery in Sydney’s Surry Hills has been giving artists the opportunity to have their work seen by the public and their peers. Matt Smith is one of the former, was voted as the People’s Choice Award winner by the latter and came on to talk about all of this and more.
