Upskilling is important right now – but can you upskill in empathy? That’s what Prime Minister Scott Morrison is hoping for Coalition MP Andrew Laming – who is taking empathy training after revelations he harassed two women online.
But how can a training course teach someone to be empathetic? To answer those questions is Dr Sue Williamson, a senior lecturer from the University of NSW who specialises in gender equality in the workplace. She joined the Thursday The Daily’s Willy Russo to discuss empathy training, and how likely it is to work.
