Angelica Mesiti’s The Rites of When is a major new commission by one of Australia’s most acclaimed contemporary artists is on now in the Tank at the Art Gallery of NSW, the deepest layer of their new building, a breathtaking space for art to emerge.

A rich visual and sonic experience, Angelica Mesiti: The Rites of When is a large-scale video and sound installation that reimagines collective and communal rituals in relation to seasonal cycles, at a time of environmental uncertainty and flux.

Mesiti adapts choreography, vocal choruses, instrumentation and collective sound-making to re-examine activities familiar to communities who have deep bonds with seasonal rhythms.

Beatrice Gralton, a highly respected Senior curator and arts advocate at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, joined 2SER Breakfast us to discuss this stunning new exhibition.
