To start things off, we’ve got legendary Benin-born singer Angelique Kidjo completely re-working Talking Heads’ 1980 album Remain In Light. The original undeniably draws great influence from the music of Africa, but there remained a steely new wave and rock feel throughout. Kidjo extrapolates the warm Afro-tinged blues and soul, lays it bare and takes it to the highest of highs. There’s just something so uplifting about her vocals, and to hear her sing classics like ‘Once In A Lifetime’ is a real treat. Find Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes and Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen on deck too. It’s hard to wipe the smile off your face after this listen.

BADADNOTGOOD’s Matthew Tavares ventures out and releases his debut solo album Dejavu under Matty. Here you’ll find him taking a step back from the instrumental jazz stylings of BADBADNOTGOOD and rather an album filled with spacey psychedelic pop. There’s a delightful variety of instrumentation throughout, including some beautiful orchestration which really makes these tracks shine. Each of the songs here were written about a specific person in Matty’s life.

Lastly, L.A. jazz pianist and producer Kiefer Shackelford gives us laid back, good vibe beat-making at its finest. On his second album Happysad, the piano melodies are a perfect match for spirited jazz-inspired beats. Ideal listening environments for this album include cruising down a highway with your windows down, cooking up a storm in your kitchen and trying to impress a new love interest with your marvellous taste in music.

And new singles from Deaf Wish, Frida, Olafur Arnalds, Maribou State, Loose Tooth, Bachelor Pad and the return of Spiritualized.
