Animal Sanctuary Saved from Devastating Bushfire
Tony and Lorene Cross are busy people.
They live near Batlow NSW and run several businesses that were recently caught up in the Dunn’s Rd bushfire that swept through Batlow and surrounds in early January.
The SMART Animal Sanctuary was evacuated by way of a facebook call out, with the local community banding together to save all manner of frightened farm and domestic animals, including a couple of recalcitrant camels.
Tony’s business suffered the most, with several of the out-buildings of Crafty Cider being destroyed in the blaze.
With a detailed fire plan, local smarts and a little engineering know-how, Tony and Lorene and their adult children decided to remain on their property and fight this blaze.
