Are you a super-recogniser?
Could you spot your childhood friend out of a crowd? Or remember the face of a passing stranger a few years later? There are people with this rare talent called “super-recognisers”, and they make up less than one per cent of the human population.
London’s Scotland Yard have recruited super-recognisers, who are helping them solve criminal cases, when even the most sophisticated technology fails, by literally “putting a face on the crime”.
To find out more about this phenomenon, Nic spoke to James Dunn who is a PhD student at the University of New South Wales. His research primarily focuses on cognitive processes involved in face recognition.
