Around Town – 11th – 12th December

There is lots happening this weekend but we have done our research for you to let you know some amazing events happening to not miss out on. Here’s what’s happening Around Town this weekend.

In 1916, hundreds of animals left Moore Park Zoo and travelled through the city and across Sydney Harbour to their new home at Taronga Zoological Park. At the Museum of Sydney, you can see this story told in their current exhibit “How to Move a Zoo”. The exhibition creates an immersive experience as it recreates the sights and sounds of the animals’ journey, including commissioned illustrations, rare historical photographs and more.

If you find yourself near the Galeries, set up on the ground floor is a Futuristic Christmas tree that’s been dubbed NFT Illuminated or “NFTree”. It’s a tree-like sculpture at the Galeries that displays one-of-a-kind digital artworks by talented Australian Artists.

Bancho Bar in Chinatown made a comeback last month, with the return of the monthly exhibit “Curated by Bancho”. Currently they are showcasing work from local Sydney photographer Alana Dimou and her exhibit: “Ultraconvenience”. It features a collection of photographs from her travels to Japan, where restaurants only serve one dish, fruit is wrapped individually and even in small towns, convenience stores open late.

For further information and booking for these events, head over to the City of Sydney website. Have a look through their “What’s On” guide for more. Thank you to our folks at the City of Sydney for sponsoring this segment.
