Have you seen any Instagram poetry recently?

It’s a new phenomenon, a simple but powerful combination of words, images and hashtags that’s taking off in the world of social media. Think Rupi Kaur, Christopher Poindexter and Gemma Troy.

As with anything, it has its pros and cons, though it’s being credited as the next innovative leap for poetry in the digital age. It’s also giving the art a new, visual edge.

We sat down with Australian instapoet Gemma Troy, who’s just published her first anthology of instagram poems called ‘Heart Lines‘. She told us a little more about the art of hashtag poetry.
