Asia Literacy in Australian education: How should our children learn about Asia these days?

In the dynamic era of cultural fluidity and hybridity, Asia literacy has been highlighted since past few decades in Australian education. In fact, Asia literacy among the youth has been mainly focusing on Asian languages as an effort to enhance economic returns and generate commercial opportunities. However, that is now criticized as an outdated approach since its failure to contemplate Asian culture, belief, environment, society and humanity in Asia-Australia relation. The question here is how Asia literacy for students should be updated and what to do to tie our relations with Asia.

Joining Sean Britten on the Daily was Professor Fazal Rizvi in Global studies in Education, The University of Melbourne to discuss Asia Literacy in Australia education.
