‘Ask For Angela’ Campaign Launched in Sydney

With the increasing popularity of online dating apps, an unprecedented amount of people are meeting up, commonly at bars, without ever having interacted beyond their screens. As some of these encounters can make people feel surprisingly threatened or unsafe, the new NSW government initiative ‘Ask for Angela’ enables these people to ask staff at participating venues for a woman called Angela, with the code word alerting staff to discreetly escort the person to safety. Sydney’s Deputy Lord Mayor Jess Miller joined The Daily to discuss the initiative which launches in Sydney’s CBD tomorrow.
