Australia-United Kingdom Trade Deal

The UK and Australia have agreed to an ‘in-principle’ free trade deal, with hopes to enact the agreement by July 2022.

However, the specifics of this trade deal are still quite murky and it’s unclear who exactly will benefit and how.

Gabriella Monteiro asked Mark Melatos, Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Sydney, why has the UK chosen to make a free trade agreement with Australia its first major trade deal post-Brexit?
