Australia Ceases Processing of Asylum Seekers in PNG

As of December 31st, Australia will cease its offshore processing of asylum seekers in Papua New Guinea (PNG), handing over responsibility for the remaining 124 people to the PNG government.
These asylum seekers will have the option of either accepting residency and later citizenship in PNG, or to be transferred and await processing on Nauru Island.
