Australia Officially in Recession
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has the biggest challenge any Treasurer has had since the Depression. He has confirmed that the economy is in deep recession and has expressed his concern for the economic effects of the Victorian lockdown, and border closures elsewhere.
With Government support measures like Job Keeper due to progressively taper off at the end of the month, Rod Chambers asked Warren Hogan, Industry Professor at the University of Technology Sydney, and Former ANZ chief Economist how much responsibility the Government bore in the deepening of the recession.
