Australia pushing for EVs at COP28
Today is the first day of the major international climate summit – COP28.
World leaders are set to meet in Dubai, to discuss how to reduce emissions.
Australia’s Energy Minister, Chris Bowen delivered his annual climate report today in parliament.
He says Australia is “within striking distance” of reaching our 2030 target of 43 percent reduction in emissions.
But he says there is still a long road ahead and more needs to be done.
Transport is Australia’s second largest source of emissions and the fastest growing.
Electric Vehicles Council CEO, Behyad Jafari, says switching to EVs and reducing emissions from petrol vehicles must be a key pillar of the world’s transition to net zero.
