Australia Refuses to Sign UN Immigration Agreement
The United Nations has put forth an agreement that involves global guidelines for dealing with migration. MP Peter Dutton has refused to sign this agreement in “its current form” even though Australia helped negotiate the deal. Dutton claims that Australia is not willing to sign the agreement as it threatens Australian border protection policy, but Human rights activists have criticised Dutton for attempting to avoid further inspection of Australia’s policies after Nauru and Manus Island. 2SER was joined by Mark Isaac author of The Undesirables and Nauru Burning and a UTS Alumni to discuss this agreement.
