According to new analysis from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), the Chinese government has been coordinating a disinformation campaign in the Solomon Islands.

The Chinese embassy in Honiara used local and social media to amplify views that Australia, the U.S and Taiwan instigated the 2021 riots, seeking to undermine international relations.

In response, the ASPI said countries in the Pacific need more long-term, consistent support as geopolitical tensions rise.
