Australian Homes and the Environmental Impact of Energy Consumption
Australian industries and organisations have long been vocal about climate change and are encouraged to lessen their environmental impact through their projects and activities. However, according to new studies and research, the size of Australian homes are the largest in the world on average and are negatively impacting the gains we have made as a nation on energy efficiency. We spoke to Dr Emma Heffernan the Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Sydney; to discuss the environmental impact of increased energy consumption in these homes, the trends that have contributed to the building of these homes as well as potential changes to the housing energy policy.
