Australian Support of US Immigration Policy
Many world leaders, prominent figures and even the United Nations have admonished President Trump’s harsh new immigration policy, which bans immigration from certain Muslim countries.
In Australia, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has announced that Australia will support America’s border protection and immigration policies, Scott Morrison has said that the policy is an indication the world is “catching up” to Australia, and Malcolm Turnbull has all but refused to comment on the policy, stating that it isn’t his place to comment. What does this mean for Australia’s reputation in the world, our relationship with the United States, and our own border protection policies?
