Australians perceive rising corruption
Perceptions of corruption in Australian society are on the rise, with the latest Corruption Perceptions Index released by Transparency International showing Australia’s ranking of institutional trustworthiness has decreased by six places since 2012. With Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s push for the return of a construction industry watchdog, the Australian Building and Construction Commission, concerns over corruption have become the centrepiece of this electoral year. Sean Britten spoke to Adam Graycar, strategic professor of social and policy studies at Flinders University and an academic with a research focus on corruption prevention.
