Australia’s AAA credit rating at risk
The UK’s credit rating dropped in the aftermath of Brexit, so could Australia’s triple A credit rating also be at risk of a downgrade?
After being left eight days without a Prime Minister following the Federal election, Australia’s triple A credit rating was at risk.
Three major credit agencies, Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s and Fitch, have decided to keep Australia’s AAA rating but will continue to monitor the situation, particularly looking at whether the new parliament will wind budget deficit back.
We were joined by Matt Grudnoff, Senior Economist at The Australian Institute to talk to us about Australia’s credit rating.
