Australia’s First National Youth Poetry Slam
This Tuesday December 13th, marks Australia’s First National Youth Poetry Slam, the culminating night of the Bankstown Poetry Slam’s ‘Brave New Word’ Poetry Festival. The Festival is giving young Australians from all backgrounds a place to converge and share ideas about Australia and their place in it and what the future will bring.
The National Youth Poetry Slam will see 15 of Australia’s bravest young wordsmiths compete at Parramatta Riverside Theatre, spitting their best verses for a $1000 Cash prize, and be crowned the National Youth Poetry Champion.
Sara Mansour is the Co-founder of Bankstown Poetry Slam and the Festival Director for Brave New Word, and joined 2SER to explain the philosophy behind Australia’s most exciting poetry event.
