Great Barrier Reef’s Third Mass Bleaching in Five Years

Last week news spread of another major coral bleaching event in the Great Barrier Reef. This is the third event in the past five years and comes off the back of major marine heatwaves in 2016 and 2017. With events in 2016 alone, killing a third of our coral. We know after this that our coral isn’t faring too well, but have you thought to consider what all this means for the fish who call the Great Barrier Reef home?

Drive was joined by Dr Jodie Rummer, Associate Professor at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, to give us some insight into how fish are adapting to rising temperatures and the future of the Great Barrier Reef.
