Australia’s new Carbon Emmission Index report

The Carbon Emissions Index (CEDEX) report is a benchmark indicator for Australia’s carbon emissions and provides a snapshot of vital data from the energy sector. The latest report was the first to be produced by a new partnership between infrastructure consulting firm Pitt & Sherry and The Australia Institute, and revealed an increase in Australia’s overall electricity production through renewable sources and unexpected trends for total energy usage in different states, most notably Queensland and New South Wales. It is hoped the new report, which includes CEDEX’s first accurate figures for total renewable energy produced in Australia, will track the transformation of energy use in Australia and help policy makers understand the current system.
