These days, body modification is incredibly popular; with many people choosing tattoos, piercings or something entirely unique that helps express who they are. This is also the realm of sillicone implants, like breast augmentation surgery. Unfortunately, recent research has suggested that despite how popular some forms of surgery might be, they contain risks that encourage development of disease. A leading researcher, Dr Anand Deva who is the Associate Professor in Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery at Macquarie University Hospital, spoke to Max Mahood about why this is such an important issue.
