Baird Government Toughens Penalties for Protestors
Coal and Gas mines can be a rather contentious proposition for a lot of locals already living in the areas where they’re looking to dig… By and large people express this discontent through peaceful protest and although we’ve spoken to some of these protestors in the past and arguments can get quite heated; but peaceful is the key word. But some proposed changes by the Baird government to the laws could see these peaceful protestors charged and imprisoned for up to seven years or fined thousands and thousands of dollars. Greens NSW Mining Spokesperson Jeremy Buckingham, spoke to The Daily about these changes.
