15 Commonwealth countries will become 14 next year with Barbados the latest country to ‘leave its colonial past behind’. It is not the first Caribbean nation to make the republic move with Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and Dominica all taking the step in the 1970s. The question now remains as to whether the Commonwealth’s grip on other countries. Professor Cindy McCreery from Sydney University joined us earlier to tell us all about this new development.
