Barcelona Attack 2017
Last Thursday tragedy struck Barcelona in the form of a speeding van crashing into a crowd of locals and tourists, the deadliest terrorist-related incident in Spain in a decade. In under a year, militant terrorists had killed 130 people by speeding car in France, Germany, Britain, Sweden, and Spain. Spanish police had recently found and shot dead the van’s driver, Younes Abouyaaqoub, 22. With terrorist attacks becoming more prevalent in today’s western world, what more could be done in terms of prevention and protection? Joining me on the line is Dr. Binoy Kampmark, a Senior Lecturer in Global, Urban, and Social Studies from RMIT University to answer our questions.
