Best & Less face criticism over backtrack on safety agreement
Australian retailer Best and Less has come under fire after going back on its commitment to sign an international safety accord, designed to improve health and safety standards for textile workers in South Asia.
Women’s rights organisation, ActionAid, says Best&Less had indicated their plans to join the accord last year but has since had a change of heart.
This comes on the anniversary of the 2013 Rana Plaza disaster- where more than 1000 garment workers lost their lives in a preventable factory collapse in Bangladesh.
